
Mark V. Barrow, MD, PH. D, F.A.C.C - President Of NFI- was born in Crestview, Florida. He attended the University of Florida where he obtained a BS, MD and Ph. D. degree in anatomy with research in the area of producing congenital malformations of the heart. A medical internship at Chapel Hill, N.C. was followed by a residency and fellowship in internal medicine and cardiology. Between 1967 and 1969 Dr. Barrow was in the Public Health Service serving in a genetics branch studying health and disease in southwest Indians. From 1969 until 1972, he was an assistant professor in the Dept. of Medicine Division of Cardiology at the University of Florida. He then went into private practice with Gainesville Medical Group until 1987 when he went into solo practice in east Gainesville. He established the North Florida Imaging Center in 1987. Dr. Barrow retired from the practice of seeing patients in 1998 and served as a clinical associate professor of medicine for the University of Florida for one year after that. He is now retired from the active practice of seeing patients but continues to work with NFI 's mobile service. Dr. Barrow is the author of two books. Health and Disease of American Indians and Heart Talk: Understanding Cardiovascular Disease. |
